This is the man, Fr. Leo, who commissioned the St. Elizabeth statue. When I delivered that statue he gave me two marble tie stones for grave markers and asked if I could make a portrait head of him. I enjoyed making this piece and learned a lot. I didn't do a maquette for this piece but directly worked the stone from photo's of him. It provided me with a lot of experiance, as my ultimate goal is to do life size or larger monumental figures and this was the first life size figure I sculpted in stone.
